The first Thai national to hold the executive chef position at the legendary Four Seasons Bangkok will hold a public cooking demonstration in Eastwood Mall on Saturday, March 28, at 5:30pm.
On his agenda: Grilled Beef Salad, which is one of the most popular dishes from his flagship restaurant, Issaya Siamese Club, in Bangkok.
Known simply as Ian, Pongtawat Chalermkittichai’s rags-to-riches story has endeared him to fans and chef wannabes. He started by pushing a food cart through the local streets of Bangkok. Then he won a culinary school scholarship and an apprenticeship at fine dining restaurant Claude’s in Sydney. After that, he became the first Thai to become the executive chef five-star hotel Four Seasons, in Bangkok.
Ian has also hosted his own cooking show, authored cookbooks, and opened restaurants in New York, Mumbai, and Barcelona. His Issaya Siamese Club, in Bangkok, sits comfortably at no. 30 in the recent Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants.
