Popular Taiwanese beverage brand Xing Fu Tang is opening its first branch in the Philippines at The Podium mall in Mandaluyong City this month.

The milk tea brand made the announcement on its Philippine Facebook page yesterday: “It’s official. We are opening our first branch at The Podium (5th floor) this March 2019!”

It will also branch out and open two more locations at the Promenade Mall in San Juan City, and at the Venice Grand Canal Mall in Taguig City. Opening dates for those stores have yet to be revealed.

Apart from that, the milk tea chain also said that three winners who correctly guess the specific opening date of the first location’s launch this month will get a free drink during the opening event. That date will be announced soon.

Xing Fu Tang is known for its flagship drink, the brown sugar bubble milk. Unlike what’s used in the average bubble tea drink, the chain’s tapioca pearls are stir-fried with caramelized brown sugar, which fans of the brand say gives it a subtle smoky caramel flavor.

Here’s a video that shows how they stir-fry the pearls used in their milk tea.

Xing Fu Tang is relatively new in the milk tea business, having started in January 2018. However, it quickly rose up the ranks in customers’ favorites, and became a worthy competitor for other more established brands. It now operates nearly 60 locations in Taiwan, as well as overseas branches in cities such as Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Vancouver.
