Those who grab a cup of “Starbs” every day but want to limit their plastic consumption can do so with Starbucks’ new reusable cups.
Unlike the coffee shop’s other reusable containers and tumblers, which are pretty pricey, these are only PHP100 (US$1.96) and come with a reusable straw.
The cups come in pink, purple, blue, and orange, but mostly we like that they’re lightweight and won’t take up too much bag or car space.
The bright colors and the fact that the cups are only meant to be used for cold drinks means that it’s probably meant as a seasonal promotional thing for Starbucks’ latest limited-edition ice-blended drinks. The four new drinks, two made with coffee and two with tea, were launched earlier this month.
The Double Ristretto Blended Cream (PHP170/US$3.33) is a morning pick-me-up and dessert in one. It is made with shots of espresso poured over a blend of ice and cream. The White Chocolate Matcha Cream (PHP170/US$3.33) is a similar drink made with green tea instead of espresso.
For something even more decadent, there’s the Mocha Coffee Sphere Frappuccino made with white chocolate sauce and “coffee spheres” that are kind of like caffeine bullets that release coffee when popped. A tall sized drink is PHP170 (US$3.33), a grande is PHP185 (US$3.63), and a venti is PHP200 (US$3.92).
A fruity alternative is the Frozen Mango Hibiscus Tea with Pomegranate Pearls, made with mango puree, citrus mint green tea, and hibiscus tea. Like the Mocha Coffee Sphere, this is topped with pearls but ones made with pomegranate juice. A tall sized drink is PHP160 (US$3.14), a grande is PHP175 (US$3.43), and a venti is PHP190 (US$3.72).
