We waited a long time for this.
Pepi Cubano is a brand of delectable six-inch Cuban sandwiches first made available at Salcedo weekend markets. Proprietor Susan Dalmacion then decided to make it available by delivery, but only within Salcedo Village.
It was a true bummer for non-Makati dwellers because these sandwiches are glorious, buttered down to the last centimeter.
There are initially six variants, with the original Pepi Cubano as the main attraction: generous slices of roast pork, ham, cheese, pickles and mustard between nicely toasted and well-buttered baguette.
Now, after what seemed like forever, Mrs Dalmacion has decided to make Pepi Cubano a stand-alone shop. There are now seven sandwiches to choose from, with prices a bit up from the last time we spoke with her. But that’s fine. Back then, she didn’t have a shop upkeep to consider.
Pepi Cubano opens today, Wednesday at the ground floor of Tropical Palms condominium in Legazpi Village. The address puts Tropical Palms at Dela Rosa Street, but you’ll find Pepi Cubano on the Gallardo Street side of the place.
