2014 left a fiery flavor in our mouths as it became the unofficial year of sriracha. The famous Thai chili sauce became such a hot (no pun intended) item last year that it became mainstream in the US and was made into a flavor variety by brands like Taco Bell, which started developing its sriracha-themed menu late last year.
The clamor for hot and spicy continues as popular ketchup brand Heinz recently launched a ketchup with sriracha flavor. It retains the familiar ketchup taste many have loved, but is given a kick of pepper and garlic for that extra layer of flavor. The heat is just enough to be felt but not strong enough to leave you in tears. Selected retailers like Walmart and Target have already started carrying it on their shelves.
As for Metro Manila, why wait in vain when we can simply and easily mix both ourselves and temper the heat according to our preference? Both Heinz Ketchup and sriracha are available in local groceries and Asian supermarkets.
