COCONUTS HOT SPOT – Il Ponticello on Valero in Makati has been a venue for countless fun nights for many yuppies. Many crazy memories among nightowls were born here. But those days are far gone as that generation has moved on to more serious matters.
But with Ponti’s new bar, they may find good reason to head back and make new memories. Situated inside the Ponti Lounge, Rye Tasting Room marries alcoholic beverages and mouthwatering food to produce a worthwhile experience.
Its “booze-friendly cuisine” consists of familiar fare like Prawn Gambas and Steak Salpicao to heavy hitters such as Irish Corned Beef Slab, Dry Cured Bacon Slab and Rib Eye Steak Chop. Some items even infuse liquor into the dishes. There’s Ale-Battered Fries and Butter Maple Bourbon Milkshake. The names already sound appetizing and taste-wise, they do deliver. It’s just a matter of rationing what you eat to be able to accomodate the many delicious dishes it as on offer.
Much like its alcoholic beverages. Just browsing through the drinks menu, one realizes how much work, effort and thought have been put to produce such an expansive and impressive list. The signature concoctions of Enzo Lim will have you in high spirits, especially the Spicy Bastard, which has tendencies to make you irresponsible. Rye has spirits tasting flights for vodka, rhum, tequila and gin.
As for whiskey lovers, you’ll be spoiled here. It has tasting flights that will certainly cater to your fancy — from different ages of Glenlivets to a range that will allow you to indulge on four different flavors (smoky, fruity, floral, and rich and rounded).
Be it reliving old memories or making new ones, Rye can definitely make it happen.
