BEST THING ABOUT YOUR LOCAL: I’m currently living in San Antonio Village, somewhere near the border of Makati and Manila. I love that I get the view of Manila Bay, I have more room to breathe since there’s not many high-rise buildings in the area, and the rent is much cheaper than CBD, where I used to live.
BRUNCH: Maria Luisa’s Garden Room (The Makati Garden Club, Recoletos Street corner Ayala Avenue, Bgy Urdaneta, Makati). They have traditional Danish open-faced sandwiches (PHP370-PHP440). I highly recommend the Shepherds Reward, a pink roast lamb with remoulade sauce, feta cheese, that comes with a side salad. It’s love at first site in this restaurant, every detail and every corner of the place is very enchanting! It is also interesting to note that they only serve fresh produce from Sonya’s Garden.
LUNCH: TTK Authentic Singaporean Restaurant (Metropolitan Ave, near Pasong Tamo, San Antonio Village, Makati). For starters, try the Roti Prata with Curry Sauce (PHP168). For the main dish, get the Seafood Laksa (PHP238), good for two to three people. Don’t miss the Kopi-O (PHP50), they’ve gotten down to pat the Singapore blend.
DINNER: Melbourne Prime, The True Grill Meat Lovers’ Café (4362 Valdez St corner Makati Ave, Makati). You can’t go wrong with The Melbourne Burger, a 100% grass-fed angus beef patty, with caramelized onions, honey-cured bacon, cheese, and mushrooms. They only offer two choices for the steak sandwiches but both are good too. Prices range from P300-P500. If you’re feeling fancy, however, they have Grade 8 Sher Wagyu Ribeye Steak (PHP1,195).
COFFEE: Pâtisserie Bebe Rouge (7602 Sacred Heart St, corner Metropolitan Ave, San Antonio Village, Makati). I come here to try all their little cakes! Lavazza brewed coffee costs PHP110, little cakes are PHP40-PHP50 each.
DRINKS: Bravo’s Sports Bar & Micro-Brewery (1331 Angono corner JP Rizal Sts, Makati). They have a micro-brewery in the bar! They offer Pivo Praha Czech Beer in four varieties: Classic, Dark, Czech Light, and Weizen. It’s very affordable: PHP75 for 300ml, PHP110 for 500ml, PHP170 for a pitcher (800ml), and PHP330 for a double pitcher (1.6liters). Best of all, you can buy beer to go at 15% off.
