Manila will be the home of Asia’s first NBA Cafe

Asia’s first NBA Cafe is expected to oepn at Bonifacio Global City in September, the National Basketball Association and Hoopla Inc. announced on Monday.

According to NBA Philippines, the NBA Cafe will serve American bar and grill fare and Asian-Filipino food and will be the second outside the United States. The first NBA Cafe opened at the Universial Studios Resort in Orlando, Florida in 1999.

“NBA Café will provide (basketball fans) a taste of the authentic NBA experience that they can share with family and friends, complete with great food, custom-made NBA Café Manila merchandise and the finest in basketball entertainment. This stays in line with our goal to bring new experiences and concepts to Filipinos,” Hoopla Inc. assistant vice president Nian Rigor said on the NBA Philippines website.

NBA legend Muggsy Bogues conducted a hard hat inspection of the site along with NBA executives. Bogues was in Manila to cap the four-month long Jr. NBA program.

The cafe will be at the SM Aura Mall in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. It is scheduled to open in September.
