As if we need another reason to pour ourselves a drink!
The latest Beer Price Index of travel metasearch engine GoEuro shows our dear beloved Metro Manila to be one of the cheapest places to get beer.
GoEuro looked at 75 cities around the world and “included 5 most commonly imported beers as well as the main local beer.”
Manila ranks 61st out of 75 cities around the world, 6th in Southeast Asia, with an average of USD$2.28 spend per drink (or about PHP102).
A hundred bucks, of course, sounds a little bit too much, but that’s the average of a beer’s supermarket price and one from a bar. Also, we suspect, GoEuro sampled beers in Taguig and Makati, where high-end bars with their high-end prices abound.

Bali’s sits right below Manila, where a beer is at USD2.28 or roughly around PHP98.
According to the Beer Index, Geneva is where beer fanatics will get most thirsty — it’s where beer is most expensive with an average spend of USD$6.32 or roughly PHP280 per bottle! We want to cue in a Jesus reference but we’ll stop right there and scream instead: Yikes!
Another trivia bit: Our neighbor Hong Kong is the second priciest city in the world for a beer. It’ll set you back about USD6.16 or about PHP277.
For the cheapest, you can head out to Eastern Europe and Russia. Krakow, Kiev, and Bratislava are the cheapest places to get your beers at USD$1.66 (PHP74), USD$1.66 (PHP74), and USD$1.69 (PHP76) respectively.
