Michele Ferrero, Italy’s richest man and the guy behind favorite choco-hazelnut spread Nutella, couldn’t have picked a better day to die. On Feb 14, when the world celebrated Valentine’s with some of his much-loved chocolates, Michele Ferrero passed away at age 89.
Billionaire Michele, who inherited the international company from his father Pietro Ferrero in 1957, continued the legacy and popular bread spread his dad left behind. He also created other equally beloved candies like Ferrero Rocher, Kinder Surprise Eggs, and Tic Tac.
We mourn his death — celebrate his life? — with these two Nutella-laced ice cream flavors:

1. Fog City Creamery’s Ferrero Rocher with Nutella Swirl
Hazel-nut liquer studded with Ferrero Rocher pieces and then layered with Nutella. With two of his company’s famous creations featured in this ice cream flavor, we don’t think there could be any more proper tribute than this. A pint is yours for PHP280. Website. +63 917 8833344. Pick-up points are in Valle Verde 5, Pasig, and A.Venue in Makati.

2. Pinkerton’s Banana Nutella
Nutella and banana is a flavor combination that hits you almost instantanously — like peanut butter and jelly, or Oreo and milk — and Alexandra Rocha, the lady behind Pinkerton ice cream, is quick to make a flavor out of the beloved pairing. Have Pinkerton’s signature smooth and decadent ice cream as base to the two is like a dream-come-true. A pint is yours for PHP305. Website. +63 2 2158021. For Makati pick-up, +63 917 8844111.
