After five years in the food scene, Krazy Garlik at Greenbelt 5 has revamped its interiors and introduced new items on menu.
The mostly red and black interiors accompanied with several bar seating options give the restaurant a brisk and dynamic vibe, which probably comes from all the fun to be had with the new items the restaurant has just rolled out.
“We noticed our clientele, which is mostly made up of people in their 20s and 30s, they like interacting with food, so we introduced dishes that allow them to interact with it,” says Lisa Ronquillo, AVP for marketing of the Bistro Group, the mothership of Krazy Garlik.
Krazy Garlik has introduced 12 new dishes, mostly desserts and drinks, that are creatively plated and carefully presented. Not only do they engage the guest, but they also demand an Instagram post.
The Sugar Cloud (PHP175) looks and tastes like high-end cotton candy: Pretty pieces of meringue adorn the cloud of cotton candy that’s almost too pretty to eat.
The “Cheese” cake (PHP295) is mango-flavored ice cream, frozen and shaped to look like cheese, and then plated in a giant mouse trap. Really cute and fun, it’s almost becomes difficult to eat because hey, you don’t want to ruin it.
The Scarlet Mojito drink meanwhile is a mojito topped with cotton candy. But that’s not all — the cotton candy goes into the drink. It sounds like a wildly good idea for a Friday lunch, following a stressful work week. Anyway, it reminds us of the lambanog number from the Hayup na Degustacion of Pepita’s Kitchen: pink cotton candy which you douse with lambanog.
An order of the Imperial spring rolls (PHP245) comes served in a box with a huge non-warning: “Don’t be shy, open me!” Open it and you’ll see four huge pieces of lumpia comfortably lying down on a bed of greens.
The 30-Kloves T-Bone (PHP1,795) is aged Angus T-bone rubbed with garlic and served with roasted garlic purée. It is served on a thick wooden cutting board, an axe-shaped knife stabbing the meat. The knife looks like a cute toy, but it can cut through the medium rare beauty.
Here, perhaps is where the clarification should be mentioned. Says Ronquillo, it’s a misconception to think that Krazy Garlik is all about garlic. Instead, garlic along different other spices, is simply a player in bringing out the flavors of dishes.
Krazy Garlik has four locations in Metro Manila. The redesign begins with Greenbelt 5 and Greenhills, Alabang Town Center, and Newport Mall locations following suit.
