Congratulations, New York! Pinoys’ favorite langhap-sarap fast food will be opening its doors in its third location in the Big Apple this fall (that’s sometime between September to November for us two-season-only people).
According to a report from The Commercial Observer, Jollibee will be located at 609 Eighth Avenue near the Port Authority Bus Terminal.
“[The] popular Filipino fast food chain Jollibee will be bringing its pineapple burger and sweet spaghetti to Manhattan,” foodie website Eater New York reported, adding that “Jollibee is as ubiquitous as McDonald’s in the Philippines.”
Well, aside from the Amazing Aloha Burger (which we totally miss, by the way!) and the ever-addictive Jolly Spaghetti, Jollibee will be bringing their intoxicatingly good Chicken joy, which a lot of people are looking forward to as well. And if we remember correctly, Americans really dig Jollibee (according to Buzzfeed). Culinary superstar Anthony Bourdain was also smitten by his first Jollibee experience. In fact, during his recent visit to the Philippines, he made sure he tried the local Jollibee.
The thriving Filipino community commuting daily from New Jersey to New York is one of the reasons why Jollibee strategically placed their first store in Woodside, Queens in 2009. Jollibee’s first store got people so excited that the crew had to notify the local police in anticipation of the line of people forming outside their doors hours before the opening, according to The New York Times.
Well, again, we send our congratulations to New York for their third Jollibee store. Now, when are we getting Shake Shack here in Manila?
