Jollibee has taken over the world. But for those who still wonder whether the Bee lives up to the hype, here’s one that argues in its favor: the Filipino fast food giant just fried up some good old Pinoy pride after Chickenjoy sold out in its Sunway Pyramid branch in Subang Jaya, Selangor in West Malaysia as it opened to the public Tuesday.
Selangor is the most developed Malaysian state and surrounds the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur.
Jollibee Malaysia’s Facebook page announced that the store had officially sold out the beloved Chickenjoy as well as other favorites.
“Hi Jolly fans! Thank you so much for the overwhelming support, we are officially SOLD OUT at Jollibee Sunway Pyramid today,” the Bee Malaysia wrote.
The overwhelming response on its first day has forced Jollibee to implement a queue cut-off at 4pm from Feb. 9 to 13.
Hundreds of customers reportedly showed up at the Sunway Pyramid branch to get a taste of the world-famous Filipino chicken that has attracted media attention throughout the globe.
Customers at West Malaysia can try the classic Chickenjoy and its spicy version, as well as other dishes such as the Jolly Spaghetti, Cheesy Yumburger, and the Jolly Sausage.
Jollibee Malaysia’s food products are prepared with ingredients sourced from halal-certified suppliers, the brand said.
The Sunway Pyramid branch is Jollibee’s first branch in West Malaysia. Its first Malaysian outlet was in Kota Kinabalu in 2018.
