Those who love creamy drinks but have had enough of milk tea can now turn their attention to FRNK, a new Japanese milk bar that opens in Makati City’s Glorietta 3 mall today.
FRNK offers craft milk drinks priced at PHP85 (US$1.63) to PHP145 (US$2.78). Its menu consists of a variety of milk and milk-based options, including both dairy and plant-based ones like almond and coconut milk.
Each drink on the menu is labeled with a calorie count, making it friendly for those who like to keep track of their food intake. Most drinks are less than 200 calories.
Milk really is the star of FRNK’s drinks. They come in different flavors including ones made with chocolate, teas, and fruits. All of FRNK’s teas are from matcha producer and exporter Morihan and come straight from Kyoto, Japan.
FRNK’s sinkers also come in three kinds: blue tea pearls, which are tapioca balls infused with butterfly flower tea; basil drops which are soft, crystal-clear, jelly-like pearls with a texture similar to bloomed chia seeds; and blue tea mochi, their take on the chewy Japanese dessert.
Aside from drinks, there are currently four pastry items on the menu: the Flourless Kokoa Cake, Flourless Chizu Cake, Japanese Checkered Cookies, and Japanese Coco Macaroons.
Environmentally-conscious customers wanting to cut down on their plastic consumption can bring their own reusable cups, straws, and tumblers. They can also bring their own containers for bakery products.
In line with FRNK’s opening today, they are offering a free upsize from a small drink to a tall one on three of their craft milk drinks: Kokoa Magma, which is composed of dark cocoa, cocoa almond crumble, fruit honey, and fresh milk; Lowcal Bake Purple Miruku, which is homemade purple yam, purple yam jam, blue tea pearls, and coconut milk; and Blue Lava Miruku, which is composed of blue tea, dark sugar, blue tea pearls, fruit honey, and fresh milk.
