UPDATE (9:22pm, July 20): We just saw on Chef JP Anglo’s Instagram that our favorite Chef Mikko Reyes of Hungry Hound is also part of Meat Heads. More reason to go, yo! So yeah, there are now eight superstar chefs whipping up a delectable dinner on Tuesday night.
All proceeds for the event will go to the Payatas Feeding Program. What they’re serving, still beats us.

Wow, this looks like some food event!
Chef superstars and real-life buddies Bruce Ricketts (of Mecha Uma and Ooma), JP Anglo (of Sarsa), Allen Buhay and BJ Mantuano (of Wildflour), David Ong (of EDSA BDG and Curator), and Erwan Heussaff (of Anne Curtis, just kidding. Of so many things!) are coming together for “Meat Heads.” It’s the first of what seems like the group’s series of do-gooding acts.
Meat Heads will be on Tue, Jul 21 at Red Light on Felipe Street in Poblacion. They will be serving protein-heavy dishes “either naked or in sandwiches,” as Erwan describes them on his Instagram account. Of course, what’s a food event without drinks? That’s where David Ong comes in: Meat Heads promises refreshing strong cocktails. Amen to that, brother.
So what exactly does “protein-heavy dishes naked or in sandiwches” mean? We asked Maita Quesada if she knew what Bruce Ricketts, Manila’s current toast of the foodie town, is serving on Tuesday. Maita is the head PR of Moment Group, of which Bruce’s new restaurant Ooma is part, BTW. “Knowing Bruce…no pa,” she laughs.
So we asked The Red Light peeps as well but according to management, they can’t reveal the menu for the Meat Heads event.
Guess, guests will have to be ready for a massive food trip surprise! In any case, all your spend will be given to charity so it should be worth it, whatever it may be.
Some reminders: There is no door charge and you cannot reserve a table. Event starts at 8pm, but feel free to come in as late as 10pm just so the wait time is controlled. Finally, dress comfortably because this is Poblacion, man. AC is so not the thing.
