Thanks to a terrible bout of El Niño, this Christmas season feels like summer more than anything. So Bono Gelato’s chocolate cognac flavor couldn’t come at a better time.

It’s a super refreshing dark chocolate gelato that comes with a welcome kick of Christmas cheer from the cognac liqueur.

“Cognac is a premium ingredient often used for festive holiday cocktails and desserts. In the western countries, it’s the preferred liqueur to warm people when the weather gets too chilly. [Since] chocolate pairs perfectly with cognac, we created an elegant liqueur-based dark chocolate gelato using 70% Dark Belgian chocolate infused with premium VSOP cognac,” says Treena Tecson, Bono’s marketing and media Relations director.

It’s a limited edition flavor (PHP180/scoop) that joins Bono’s other alcoholic limited edition bestsellers likes Butterbeer (which mixes beer, butterscotch and crunchy candied pretzels) and the award-winning Mango Ube Symphony (purple yam, Philippine mangoes plus rhum-soaked dried mangos).

For that extra Christmas cheer, you’d be glad to know that gelato is low in fat. “Ice cream contains 18% or more butterfat. Gelato only has about 4-8% butterfat,” Tecson says, adding that Bono is churned daily and hand-crafted in small batches.

The best part is you can take pints of this at home (PHP750/pint) to give as gifts or serve during parties, or just to keep your cool.

Bono Gelato has branches in SM Aura Premiere, Mega Fashion Hall, The Podium, SM Southmall and SM Makati.
