Cheers to that: Pinay is first-ever female champ in TGIFridays World Bartender Championship

Here’s a damn good reason to start the week with a drink! Or two.

Who are we kidding? Or FIVE.

Just in from Texas — a Filipina female bartender has become the first-ever female and Filipino to win the top prize in TGIFridays World Bartender Championship.

Rizza Umlas represented the Philippines (but of course).

The annual competition has been going on since the late 1980s and has evolved into one of the most-awaited and prestigious challenges among TGIFridays bartenders around the world.

Previous winners from the Philippines were Matthew “Kryptonite” Burgos and Eric “El Terrible” Martinez, who both represented the Philippines and won 2007 1st runner-up and 2006 Champion respectively.

Cheers, Rizza!
