Carinderia Crawl E49: Lovelite

On this episode of Carinderia Crawl, we join 23-year-old photographer Josa Bassig at an eatery in Sampaloc, Manila, called Lovelite. This was her go-to place when she was still in college, so she obviously knew her way around the neighborhood and was very familiar with the eatery’s menu.

One of the many things she likes about Lovelite is that they only cook your food after you’ve placed your order, so everything is freshly prepared. That makes a difference especially when you order something like a plate of hotdog, bacon and egg served sunny side up with a cup of rice (PHP65).

Bassig, who is usually loyal to a particular hotdog brand, can be persuaded to eat this because it’s served with lightly salted gravy and tastes great with the crunchy bacon and runny egg. For an extra punch to her meal, she also ordered a large mango shake (a little bit salty, a little bit sweet) for PHP30, which she swears goes well with any of Lovelite’s meals.

Lovelite is at 1224 Asturias Street, Sampaloc, Manila. Mon-Sat 7am-8:30pm.
