Intramuros is home to a handful of educational institutions and that’s one of the reasons why it’s a thriving spot for good and affordable carinderias.
One of the more popular ones is Manang’s Chicken along Muralla Street. It is housed literally within the Intramuros wall, in the cave-like space that’s been carved out of the defense walls.
On any given lunch time, tables and chairs spill out onto the street as the owners hurriedly feed customers — both office workers on a one-hour break and degree chasers dining in big groups.
On this episode we are joined by a multimedia arts student who likes coming here for the ambiance, the friendly service and the home-cooked goodness of its fried chicken and lechon kawali, which cost him PHP110 with rice.
