Don’t eat Bongbong’s Piaya, FDA warns the public

Recalling the great Reno Liver Spread Crisis of 2020, today the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an advisory warning people not to buy and consume Bongbong’s piaya.

The FDA advisory lists the popular pasalubong delicacy—along with Bongbong’s polvoron, Sloan’s Food Products barquillos, Mayo Bay chocolate tablea, and Ruffa’s banana chips—among unregistered food items. They’re kolorum, in other words, and not necessarily unfit for consumption.

Earlier this month, the government agency also warned the public that Bongbong’s fish crackers were unregistered. A quick search of the FDA Verification portal (which, by the way, they also advise everyone to do) shows that only the meringue appears from their wide range of food products.

Are we to expect a piaya shortage? Do we have to start hoarding these sweet flat pieces of sugary heaven?? WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE CHILDREN.
