6 things you’ll need to make this super cute bento box!

Got a tip? Send it to us at manila@coconuts.co.

How many of us have shared at least one photo of these super cute bento boxes and wished someone made one for us we can make one for ourselves?

Well, you the art form is not exclusive to Japanese. You can actually try and make one right here, right now. Popular Japanese store Daiso has a few bento tools on offer that should allow you to create something just as adorbs.

We saw six, in fact, that will allow you to make one today.

The even better news: Daiso, popular for its fixed PHP88-price point, has an ongoing “3 for PHP188” sale on select baking and bento tools.

But come to think of it, even if the pieces below are not on sale, PHP88 shouldn’t really put a dent on your wallet, no?

The real concern? Patience, a steady hand, and an eye for detail. Have you got those?

1. An egg mold

Wouldn’t a hard boiled egg be more fun to eat if it were shaped like a star or a heart? That egg will look so good on your bento box, too! Pro tip: You can use this to shape your rice, too.

2. Partition cup

And because it’s a star-shaped egg, it deserves its own space! Put it in a partition cup, to retain its shape. Besides, a partition cup will add color to the box.

3. Food mold

To make that piece of Maling a little bit more enjoyable.

4. Dried layer puncher

Add eyes, nose, ears to your food. This dried layer puncher will allow you to do that.

5. Sausage mold

This will certainly make those drab vienna sausages look pretty in your bento.

6. Bento box

And of course, a bento box! Highly recommended are the elongated ones because there’s more room that you can divide into smaller sections.
