5 easy cocktail recipes: One for each day of the work week AF Christmas

If you’re like us here in Coconuts, you’ll be spending the week between Christmas and New Year hosting house parties, attending a few more, and getting hella…tipsy.

We have a little suggestion: make your weeklong inuman little bit more fun by preparing a few cocktails your friends will surely appreciate.

Don’t worry. You’re only expected to be a good host, not an award-winning bartender. Besides, committing a few mistakes is part of the fun!

Monday: Baileys Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:
50ml Baileys Irish Liqueur
150ml hot chocolate
whipped cream
chocolate shavings

Procedure:
Combine Baileys Irish liqueur with hot chocolate and serve with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
 

Tuesday: Hot Johnnie Ginger

Ingredients:
50ml Johnnie Walker Red
50ml Boiling water
25ml Ginger syrup
1 Stalk of rosemary
2 Strips of orange peel/zest

Procedure:
1. Place all liquid ingredients into heated urn and stir.
2. Keep at a warm temperature but do not boil. Add 4 large twists of orange and 2 sprigs of rosemary per litre of liquid. Serve by ladling the liquid in to a handled glass and garnish with rosemary and orange twists.
 

Wednesday: Spiced rum cranberry and apple cider

Ingredients:
35ml Captain Morgan Spiced
10ml Amaretto liqueur
70ml Cranberry juice
25ml Apple cider

Procedure:
1. Combine all the ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake well.
2. Strain into an ice filled rocks glass. Garnish with a and cinnamon stick (optional).
 

Thursday: Mr Macawber’s gin punch

Ingredients:
400ml Hendrick’s Gin
400ml Madeira Wine
2 Teaspoons Brown Sugar
6 Large Lemon and Orange Twists
Small Slice Orange
1 Fresh Pineapple
4 Teaspoons Honey
Juice of 2 lemons
3 pieces of cloves
Pinch Nutmeg
Teaspoon of Cinnamon Powder

Procedure:
1. Mix all ingredients in a saucepan and place on the heat. Let the concoction simmer for 20 to 30 minutes. Taste, adding lemon or honey depending on whether you like sweet or sour.
2. When it’s ready, pour into a teapot and serve in teacups. Alternatively serve in a traditional punch bowl. Can be reheated so you can make it ahead.
 

Friday: Calamansi surprise

Ingredients:
1.5 oz Ginebra San Miguel Premium Gin
4 pieces calamansi
4 basil leaves
2 tsp sugar
2 oz Sprite
1 glass of ice

Procedure:
1. Slice calamansi in halves.
2. Add basil and sugar. Mix
3. Fill the glass with ice, pour the gin then top with Sprite and serve.
