There was a lot of hype leading to last weekend’s Gourmand Market at the Central Square of the Bonifacio High Street Central. As I found myself attending all three days that it transpired, I must say it definitely lived up to the buzz surrounding it.
The sun definitely made its presence felt — it is summer, alright — but that didn’t stop anyone from enjoying all the delicious treats at hand. There were familiar brands like the Cunanan Bakery, Slurp and its hard-hitting cold brew, ice cream from Kool Kids, The Butchery, which turned its artisanal organic sausages into balls of meat, a variety of kale chips from Take Root, and the runaway crowd favorite, Jam Foods, which had its famous Angus tapa in burritos.
And then there were these six snacks, which a lot of the guests took home and/or enjoyed in their own space in the park.
1. Seacharon and Chichashroom by The Clean Plate (PHP190)

There’s definitely less of the guilt with this chicharon, made with seaweed and mushroom. It has less fat and is coated with unbleached flour. To achieve its crispness, they are first fried in corn oil, and then baked. The Clean Plate; +63 2 2364356
2. Brownie Crunch by Snack Box (PHP150)

Available in 4 flavors — roasted cacao nibs with chia and flax seeds, peppermint, triple chocolate, and salted caramel, the thin and crisp brownie brittle by the Snack Box comes in handy for times when you need a sugary jolt. Snack Box; +63 915 6303142
3. Organic Chilled Taho by Holy Carabao (PHP50)

Holy Carabao was definitely one of the most attractive stalls in the fair because of its beautiful fresh produce hut, thirst-quenching drinks and this taho, which I can and have devoured three portions of in one sitting. Delicious! Holy Carabao; +63 920 4688785
4. Meat Pies by The Art of Pie (PHP95)

Inside these golden puff pastries are five delectable fillings to choose from: sausage, chicken and spinach, herbed chicken, longganisa and chorizo Iberico. It made by Kyra Dy, who first became known for her caviar pie and range of sweet pies.

5. Cookies by The Baker Bros (PHP40-50)

Wanting to support baker RB Cruz in his penchant for baking cookies, a young band of childhood friends formed the brand and joined this food bazaar. It is their first time to sell sinful pastries in the form of PB and Nutella, Brown Butter Choco Chip, Apple Space Jam and Caramel, and Dark Choco Mint cookies. The Baker Bros; +63 915 8058002
