Because it’s sandwiched between Christmas and New Year, Rizal Day is a little too easy to overlook. But this 8-inch scale model of the Rizal monument that Ryan Arengo created might just change that.
Arengo works as a graphic artist at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. After seeing papercraft downloadables of foreign landmarks, he thought, perhaps it’s time to make one for our country. “It’s a good way to promote Philippine landmarks, too,” Arengo told Coconuts Manila.
So off he went to Luneta, took photos of the monument, went back to his desk and worked on it. “I edited the photos on Photoshop and then laid it out using Illustrator.” It took him three days in total to get everything together.
And right on time for Rizal Day.
Since Rizal died in honor of our nation today, how about we set a few minutes and honor our National Hero with this all-too-easy paper craft. Put it on your desk and never forget about Rizal Day ever again. Download the pattern here.
