Hue Can Do It! and Hue Can Do It, Too! are two coloring books, produced by Summit Books, that were launched at the recently concluded Philippine Literary Festival.
Spread out over two volumes are the unique works of 44 supremely talented Filipino illustrators, including Apol Sta. Maria, Ariel Santillan, Brent Sabas, Electrolychee, and Manix Abrera, to name a few.
“Yung images na nilalagay ng artist doon is accumulated from personal experiences. Hindi man siya maikwento verbally, as an illustrator, nagkukwento kami through visuals,” artist Brent Sabas said.
“Noong bata pa ako, mahilig ako sa mazes, so yung sinubmit kong artworks, hindi lang kukulayan, may maze din, para masaya,” Manix Abrera shared.
According to Summit Books publisher Francis Galura, the publishing house has been wanting to produce an adult coloring book since 2014. “But we felt that if we were gonna do it, the challenge was to come up with something that’s gonna stand out from the pile of adult coloring books already in the market. The idea of gathering some of the most talented Filipino artists in one book was born, and we decided to run with it.”
Hue Can Do It! and Hue Can Do It, Too! are PHP295 each.
