“My family used to own Mapua Institute of Technology. Up until I was in fifth grade, I used to go there after class and wait for my lola who was working there ever since she was young. I would stay there from 3pm to 6pm, sometimes as late as 8pm, waiting for her so we can go home together. While waiting I would get close to the students and run around the school as if it was my playground. There’s honestly nothing specific that I really miss about my childhood, I appreciate change more.”
Souls of Manila is a new Coconuts series of street portrait photography inspired by Brandon Stanton’s Humans of New York. Every human has a story to tell, and we intend to share some from the millions of souls who call Metro Manila home.
