Meet Maki, a five-year-old female shih tzu who has taught her human, Erika, how to appreciate animal rights issues and become a responsible person. “We saw her randomly and at first the pet shop owner didn’t want to sell Maki because he wanted her for himself,” recalls Erika, whose parents gave her Maki as a birthday gift.
She is now considered part of the family — Maki’s mom even cooks food just for their four-legged companion. She also likes riding the family car and putting her head outside the window when inside a moving vehicle.
So what are the naughty things that Maki does? “She is potty trained but she pees all over the house especially when we leave her alone.” Her special trick is bringing the humans their slippers when they arrive home, something that she learned on her own. “I love my pet because she’s very sweet and very behaved,” says Erika.
