That is not Mignac’s selfie. That’s just one of the very many quirky or cute or beautiful photos you’ll see from this Miguel Nacianceno’s IG account. Granted he’s a professional photographer, but what makes Mignac’s IG super interesting are the variety of photos he posts— things seen from his weekend bike rides, car rides and commutes in the city, meals with friends, or behind-the-scenes from his shoots. And because he’s at the helm of Mapa Manila, there are a shitload of beautiful Manila photos. His captions are a bonus.
Where are you from? San Juan but I’ve been living in Makati for two years now.
What can people expect from your IG account? The same as I expect from others: snippets of everyday life, shot well at the very least.
But what is ‘shot well?’ You know, the lighting is nice, the subject matter is nice. I don’t need it to be perfect. I like raw images.
What is Instagram for you? It’s cool, IG. Ever since I started commercial work, a lot of my shots are deliberate. I like that Instagram lets me be less deliberate. I miss snapshot photography.

What do you like seeing on your feed? I like people who mix the art shit with the mundane shit. I’d rather an IG account that shows their everyday life and the variety of things they are exposed to instead of a specialized one. Ayoko yung singular theme.
Do you have a favorite IG user? I like Mamnick, which is foreign. I think it’s a UK brand that sells everything from shirts to cycling-related material. Maybe Geric Cruz, but he doesn’t post as often. Ah, I know. Tim “Touched by god” Serrano. He’s a photographer and he had less monochrome stuff before.
Favorite filters? I don’t use filters. I use an app called vsco and on vsco, I use the first 10 filters, the traditional ones.
Any tips you’d like to share to make IG a better place? Less hashtags. I don’t think rules for IG should be different from rules for photography. A good photo is a good photo is a good Instagram. It’s still photography. It should still be good photography.
