In hindsight, the big beautiful round moon last night should’ve clued us in. He sang, nay, celebrated the moon in one of his songs, after all. Dominic Gamboa, “Papadom” to most of us, passed away on Dec 18. The revered Pinoy musician, best known for his work with Tropical Depression, leaves behind a wife and two sons. This is a tremendous loss, we know, but we will take from Domeng’s spirit. He was a jovial man, who loved and celebrated all things, even those deemed dangerous (hello, fixation on wild and exotic animals). We choose to celebrate Papadom by putting five of his most loved songs on repeat all day long.
1. “Bilog na Naman ang Buwan”….because we are on the second day of such a beautiful full moon.

2. “Bagyo Bagyo”…because we love this line: Nang maikalat ng bagyo ang kwento ng pag-ibig.

3. “Do the Reggae”…because “reggae music will make you feel alright.”

4. “Lakambini”…because Papadom’s singing style, full vibrato and trademark raised pitch at the end of each line, tells us he’s a malambing guy who just loved to dance.

5. “Kapayapaan”…because love and peace has always been his message.

Thank you, Papadom. A life well lived, a man well loved. Jah.
