4 reasons to visit #shangcraftmania this weekend

Crafting has made a successful comeback. For those wiith a desire to go against the culture of mass-produced goods, it’s a nice way to express creativity and individuality.

Calligraphy, paper flower making, Kaleidolines… these artistic activities are now suddenly popular again. And why shouldn’t they be? They provide a nice break in an age when everything has gone digital.

Now on it’s second year, Edsa Shangri-La’s Craft Mania will feature the flair and talent of artists who will be on spotlight to share their skills in workshops and demos.

For the last two weekends of April, aspiring crafters can try their hand at creative coloring, stamp calligraphy or any other of the workshops.

Coconuts Manila went to the media launch of Shang Craft Manila. Here are five reasons for you to head on to the event this weekend!

1. Free workshops

With the exception of the sessions on polymer clay and ceramic painting, you get to learn an artistic skill at no cost. You just have to show register and show up. You can’t get a deal better than than! For more information about the scheduling and registration, call Shangri-La Plaza’s concierge at +63 2 3702597 or +63 2 3702598.

2. Stock up on your supplies

There will also be an arts and crafts bazaar featuring Shang’s retail partners and independent sellers. We got a glimpse of their goods, and it’s a haven for those who are intro colored pens and nice paper. It’s a good chance to buy materials for your new crafting hobby.

3. Meet inspiring artists and creatives

Yes, you might find crafting inspiration from websites like Pinterest or Etsy, but really, there’s nothing like being surrounded by artists who will squeeze the creative juices out of you, even if you think that you don’t have a single artistic bone in your body.

We saw Ms. Bubut de los Santos (Tie Me Up Buttercup) and Ms. Fozzy Castro-Dayrit in action, and it was inspiring to see passionate crafters who are willing to share their art with the world. This gathering is a good way to get into the crafting circle.

4. Chance to win special prizes

Shang is giving away prizes to those with the best works in each workshop! You just have to upload your piece on Instagram! Include the name and date of workshop which you joined and tag 5 friends. Make sure that you’re following @shangrilaplazaofficial on Instagram. Set your account to public.

So see you on the weekend? Visit their website for more info.
