DOT, Baguio City officials, business owners team up to ‘re-green’ Session Road

The Department of Tourism (DOT) Cordillera regional office, the Baguio City government, as well as commercial establishments along Session Road  have teamed up to re-green and beautify the city’s most popular thoroughfare.

In a meeting with the Session Road Businessmen Association, DOT Regional Director Venus Tan, along with city councilors Elmer Datuin and Elaine Sambrano, presented the proposed beautification plan.

The plan includes putting up of uniform potted plants and flowers in every commercial establishment along Session.

This is part of the DOT’s Rev-Up, Revive, Revisit and Revitalize (REV-Bloom) program, a campaign that aims to encourage community participation in re-greening and beautification of the city.

As such, city council Tourism committee chair Datuin reminded the Session Road businessmen of local ordinances that also mandate them to beautify their respective  establishments. He likewise assured that they would provide assistance through the City Environment and Parks Management Office. In fact, they have a PHP2 million (around US$41,143) budget for plants in the central business district’s pedestrians. Carlito Dar, Philippine Information Agency
