Boracay, Palawan, and Cebu included in Condé Nast Traveler’s ‘Best Islands’ list

There is definitely more to the Philippines than the islands and beaches… but we can’t deny that they’re definitely included in the country’s tourism highlights.

US lifestyle magazine Condé Nast Traveler released its 2016 Readers’ Choice Awards, which lists the top 20 beach spots around the world from Santorini, Greece to different parts of Asia.

Three islands in the Philippines were included in the annual list by the award-winning magazine, with Boracay taking the top spot.

Cebu took the fifth spot. It was described as “more personal” and “not as wild” as Phuket in Thailand. According to the magazine, it also has “plenty of up-and-coming restaurants and shopping.”

Palawan, which took the top spot last year, slipped to second place in this year’s list. Condé Nast Traveler highlights the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River, which is  one of the new seven natural wonders of the world.

At the top spot is the “itty-bity island in Western Philippines,” Boracay. The island’s main draw, according to the magazine, is it’s “powdery white sand and shallow azure water ideal for swimming and snorkeling.”

The ther islands that made it to the list are Mallorca in Spain, Great Barrier Reef & Whitsunday Islands in Australia, and Vancouver Island in BC, Canada.
