6 gigs you need to book ahead: Heems + Phoenix + Mogwai + Red Hot Chilli Peppers + The National + Jose Gonzales + Megadeth + more

In the first three months of 2014 alone, the Philippines will be playing host to three music festivals, that’s not mentioning a number of artists playing one-night-only specials. Allow us to list them down for your convenience.

Ah, the one that got everyone crazy when they announced that the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be headlining the inaugaral gig. On the strength of Chili Peppers alone (promoters have yet to reveal detailsa about Phase 2) we heard tickets have been selling like iHOP pancakes — to think they don’t sell single-day passes and parking passes is another payment altogether. To get you not thinking about the costs, and instead excited about Flea and company coming over, here’s a Chili Peppers classic below.

On their 3rd year now, the Malasimbo music fest comes as a great event for modern-day hippies. Kidding. This year’s line-up includes —whoa! —Jose Gonzales, Mad Professor, Rod Ayers, Jordan Rakei, and many more. It happens on the weekend of Feb 27 and goes on until Mar 3 on the island of Puerto Galera. Until Jan 31, you can get single-day passes from PHP500. Two-day passes from PHP3,600 and finally, three-day passes at PHP6,300. Remember, ticket prices change come Feb 1.
