BIR lays its claim on Manny Pacquiao’s Forbes Park mansion

It looks like Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is trying to knock out Manny Pacquiao.

“In an interview on ANC’s Headstart, Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) chief Kim Henares said the bureau has already put a lien on the Forbes Park property, which means the agency has a legal claim on the boxing champ’s property until his tax deficiency has been paid,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

Pacquiao purchased the house and lot in North Forbes Park for PHP388 million in 2011. *According to the report, “the BIR is running after Pacquiao for back taxes from 2008-2009, worth over PHP2.2 billion, including surcharges and interest.”

The amounts cited in this case have been confusing. While Pacquiao has claimed right from the start that the BIR is going after him for PHP2.2 billion, Henares has said in earlier reports the BIR has only frozen two of his accounts which collectively contain PHP1.1 million.

Well, now they’ve got his multimillion-peso mansion, too.
