Which of these two movie trivias are facts and which one is a lie? Tell us below.
We have more facts (or lies) that you can take to the cinemas this month! Expect a big wave of kids and kids-at-heart in the metro’s theaters because two giant movies are here. On May 21, comic geeks are set to see another Marvel-inspired movie with X-Men: Days of Future Past. Disney lovers are also in for a treat with Angelina Jolie’s version of the frightening Sleeping Beauty villain: Maleficent on May 28. There’s also the experimental team up of Sarah Geronimo and Coco Martin in Maybe This Time, also on May 28.
X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST
Dir: Bryan SInger (2014). USA, UK. Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen. MTRCB PG. From May 21.

TRUTH OR LIE: Hugh Jackman is slowly establishing that Wolverine is forever him.
Much like how Tony Stark can only be Robert Downey Jr, Hugh Jackman is showing signs of forever owning the Marvel character due perhaps to his awesomeness. In X-Men: Days of Future Past, he is playing the same role for the seventh time since 2000, making him the only actor who’s been part of all X-Men movies produced by Twentieth Century Fox. FYR: Halle Berry has played Storm four times since 2000; Patrick Stewart has played Professor X twice in movies and twice as a voice in various X-Men video games; and Sir Ian McKellen has played Magneto five times since 2000. Jackman’s Wolverine presence has been so important, in fact, that director Bryan Singer says he was only able to get the film started after Jackman agreed to reprise their roles. Though X-Men: Days of Future Past admittedly centers on new actors like Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore, we can clearly see that the franchise’s future is definitely intact for Hugh Jackman.

MAYBE THIS TIME
Dir: Jerry Lopez SIneneng (2014). Philippines. Sarah Geronimo, Coco Martin, Ruffa Gutierrez. MTRCB PG. From May 28.

TRUTH OR LIE: Coco Martin says Sarah Geronimo was “daring” during the shoot of Maybe This Time.
In a recent interview, Coco Martin, who plays Tonio, says he was shocked to see how Sarah has changed so much from their TV acting days, and that has made Coco apprehensive about doing romantic scenes with her, because he doesn’t know how she would react. The popstar princess then responded saying: “‘Co, yakapin mo ko…” so he wouldn’t feel shy around her while filming some of their daring scenes in the movie. Maybe This Time follows the story of Tonio and Steph who falls in love and goes their separate ways—only to be reunited seven years after.

MALEFICENT
Dir: Robert Stromberg (2014). USA. Angelina Jolie, Sharito Copley, Elle Fanning, Sam Riley. MTRCB PG. From May 28.

TRUTH OR LIE: Angelina Jolie’s kids were so scared of her as Maleficent that they refused to do cameos for the movie.
We’ve all seen the trailers and featurettes. We’ve heard Lana Del Rey’s haunting version of “Once Upon a Dream”. We’ve seen the posters hanging over our heads in malls and we know that Disney’s Maleficent is bound to be a true-to-its-blood chiller. Jolie’s children—Zahara, Pax and Vivienne—were supposedly going to have cameos in the film but were not able to join in because they couldn’t go near Angelina in her black costume and super huge horns. She sent them and all the other kids on the set crying, which made it difficult to shoot Princess Aurora’s christening. Well if Angelina is that scary, we’re definitely excited to watch this, especially since it’ll be out during the 55th year anniversary of Sleeping Beauty!

ANSWERS TO LAST WEEK’S 2 TRUTHS AND A LIE:
TRUE: #1 & #3. Shailene Woodley’s scenes were indeed cut out of the movie. Hold tight, though, because we might just see those deleted scenes on the next The Amazing Spider-Man installment.
LIE: #2. For all the Marvel geeks out there, you should have already known that 2 is a lie. Gwen Stacy is definitely out of the next Spidey movie. While the movie version was way different from the original Marvel story arc that shocked the whole comic-reading community, it did feature the same cause of death that pushed The Amazing Spiderman #121 on the list of titles that marked the Silver Age of Comic Books. Basically, she broke her neck when Spiderman webbed her as she fell down the tower. The only difference is, she fell inside a clock tower and not outside of a building, the way the #121 ended. The actors themselves said the movie had two other alternatIVE endings which were not used, in order to keep a family-friendly rating. We heard one of them includes the Green Goblin snapping Gwen Stacy’s neck with his bare hands. Oh, the horror!
