Okay, so it doesn’t actually transform into an actual Cybertronian commander-in-chief, but for the kind of money being spent here, it very well should be able to.
While his son, Crown Prince Tunku Ismail alarms people with talk of possible secession from the Malaysian Federation, the Sultan of Johor, Tunku Ibrahim Tunku Iskandar, is set to intimidate Malaysians on the road, as he’ll soon be barrelling down the highways in a custom outfitted Mack Truck – just like the one Optimus Prime transforms into in the Michael Bay movies – that’s reported to be the world’s most expensive.
Decked out in the Johorean state flag, the truck is also furnished with a built-in barbecue pit, a six-CCTV security video system, two flat-screen TVs, a stone-top kitchen, a double bed, and furniture adorned with 72,000 stitches of gold thread.
The iconic Mack hood ornament, a stainless steel bulldog, has been replaced with a more fitting symbol for the Johor royal family: a solid gold tiger.
Mack Trucks Australia, who took a year to put the royal Transformer together, isn’t saying how much Sultan Ibrahim shelled out for his one-of a kind ride, but did tell Aussie motoring site Motoring that the price tag puts the previous record for most expensive custom Mack Truck – AUD481,000 (RM1.48 million) to shame.
Here’s a bunch of (clearly jealous) Australian newscasters gushing over the Sultan’s new toy truck:
While the Royal Truck was unveiled in Brisbane last week, it’s expected to make its Malaysian debut by the end of the month, where it will likely be luggin around the Sultan of Johor’s other ostentatious toy, his speedboat:
And yes, of course they match.
