Ringgit opens at 4.46 to the USD today

Comtinuing its slide into 17-year lows, the Malaysian Ringgit opened at 4.46 to the US Dollar today, amidst concerns over the instability of China’s and Southeast Asian economies. 

At 9am today, the RM opened at 4.4600/4690, down from its closing value of 4.4160/4240 at 5pm yesterday.

The Ringgit also fell in value against other currencies, with it opening at 3.1130/1204 from 3.0916/0976 to the Singaporean Dollar, 5.0157/0263 from 4.9371/9469 to the Euro, 6.7627/7768 from 6.7238/7382 to the Pound Sterling, and 3.7269/7360 from 3.6711/6793 against the Yen. 

The Indonesian Rupiah likewise dropped to a 17-year low today, trading at 14,730 to the USD, its lowest value since July 1998, The Rakyat Post reports.
