Rafizi Ramli was barred from entering Sarawak … again

In another instance of the Sarawakian state government not being all that friendly towards members of the federal opposition parties, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) strategy director Rafizi Ramli was barred from enterin the state – again – as he arrived at Kuching International Airport yesterday.

He was informed by a senior officer at the airport that strict orders had been issued by the Chief Minister’s office to stop blacklisted opposition leaders from entering the state, and that if any Pakatan Rakyat politicians were to slip past, “heads will roll”.

Rafizi claimed the Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem had abused his powers to stop PR leaders from conduting their political activities in the state.

According to fz.com, Rafizi was also advised by the senior official at the airport to “marry a Sarawakian”, in order to be allowed entry into the state.

“The senior officer was so sympathetic, he even suggested I marry to a Sarawakian so that I can be allowed to enter on humanitarian basis,” he laughed and told reporters at the PKR headquarters today.

He will file a judicial review at the Kuching High Court to challenge the abuse of power at the earliest date possible.

He believes this is an attempt to strifle the federal opposition’s state election preparation to limit the number of leaders who can communicate national issues to the voters in the inland areas of Sarawak.
