Persana Avril Sollunda, the former model who went viral after a video of her ripping off her top during a fight outside a Petaling Street chicken rice stall hit Malaysian social media, has been ordered by a judge to undergo a month’s worth of psychiatric evaluation.
Magistrate Nur A’minahtul Mardiah Md Nor today ordered Sollunda to be checked in to the Hospital Bahagia psychiatric facility in Ulu Kinta, Perak, as part of her judgment on Sollunda’s case, under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The law allows those who have been found to not be of sound mind to be given psychiatric treatment and observation in lieu of a penal punishment.
Should Sollunda fail to check in at Hospital Bahagia by the end of today, the court will render her baikl null and void, and will issue a warrant for her arrest, Dina Murad of The Star Online reported.
Sollunda is also required to produce a psychiatric report from the hospital at her next court mention, scheduled to take place on July 2.
While all of this was taking place, Sollunda herself was absent at the re-mention hearing this morning. Her lawyer, Muhammad Nor Izzat Nordin, explained that she was not well enough to attend.
He also presented a letter from doctors serving at the Sungai Buloh Hospital, where Sollunda has been receiving psychiatric treatment since May 5. After being discharged yesterday, Sollunda has been housed at her brother’s home in Kota Damansara.
Still, magistrate Nur A’minahtul ordered her to attend the hearing by noon.
Sollunda might still have to serve time in jail, for a charge under Section 509 of the Penal Code, for committing a lewd act in public. If convicted, she could be ordered to serve up to three months’ jail, pay a fine, or both.
