Youth steals pants to wear for first job, but gets jailed instead

A 24-year-old man will be celebrating his first job in jail and his first paycheck paying a fine.

According to Bernama, Fariduddin Nasir was slapped with a three-day jail term and a RM600 fine in default one month’s jail for stealing two pairs of shirts and two pairs of slacks worth RM359.50 at the Brands Outlet in Sunway Putra Mall at 2.20pm on July 12.

Fairuddin pleaded guilty when the charges were read out to him by Magistrate Mohd Rehan Mohd Aris at the Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Mohd Rehan ordered Fariduddin to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest, which was July 12.

The accused, who was unrepresented, told the court earlier during mitigation that he was recently employed but he did not have enough proper clothing to wear to work.
