An 18-year-old out on a fishing trip with a friend died after he fell off the boat and got struck by its propeller, Bernama reports.
Tumpat District Police chief Supt Zaharudin Rasid told the news agency that the incident happened at Pantai Geting, Tumpat around 9.30pm on Wednesday.
According to Supt Zaharuddin, both Mohammad Faiz Wahib and his friend, Mohd Azwa Mat Nor, reportedly fell off the boat due to strong winds.
“Mohd Azwa managed to save himself by clambering back into the boat but Mohammad Faiz failed to do so as he had been struck by the boat propeller,” he was quoted by Bernama as saying.
Mohammad Faiz reportedly died at the scene after sustaining injuries to his forehead and left leg.
His remains were sent to the Tumpat Hospital for a post mortem.
