Football legend Eric Cantona knows more than just scoring incredible goals: he knows his Malaysian food too.
The 50-year-old footballer, who last played for British club Manchester United, was in town recently for a promotional campaign.
During his visit, he took some time off to meet his fans as well as answer some questions posed by the members of the media.
Most of the questions were about football and his legendary career — he was voted as Manchester United’s greatest ever player, if you didn’t know — but when he was asked about Malaysia and his favourite local food, he had an answer that surprised many.
“I like karipap, kerepok lekor and satay, and a host of local food here,” he was quoted by Fourth Official as saying.
Nope, not nasi lemak or roti canai; it’s keropok lekor!
While karipap and satay are a little bit more common, his answer of keropok lekor came as a surprise because not many are fans of the fish crackers due to its erratic fishy smell.
And unlike karipap and satay, keropok lekor is a little bit harder to find.
But the former French international had a perfect explanation as to why he is a fan of the crackers.
“I consider Malaysia my second home,” he was quoted further as saying.
Alright, we’re sold! Give this man an IC already, Malaysian goverment!
