A Year One student is dead after enduring a severe beating at the hands of his Year Six schoolmate at a Kapit boarding school.
The twelve-year-old, Year Six student was questioned by police, but released on bail as he needed to study for his UPSR exams next month.
The six-year-old victim was initially hospitalized Tuesday night with head injuries and severe bruising. He succumbed to the injuries today at Sibu Hospital.
Reports allege that the victim had been punched and kicked from head to toe, while his hands were tied and mouth gagged using a blanket.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Amer Away says local police will continue investigating.
