A couple of days ago, we noticed that the Google Play Store’s Merdeka tie-in promotion had a serious miscalculation of exactly how long Malaysia’s been independent … or maybe Google confused us with Indonesia.
Instead of celebrating our 57th day of Independence on August 31, the Play Store’s “Top 20 Malaysia’s Favorite Games” promotional page listed us as turning 69, a fact that was prominently displayed on the promo copy and the background graphic on both the web and mobile versions of the Play Store.
That meant either that someone at Google thought Malaysia became independent in 1945, or that Malaysia is Indonesia, which really did become independent in 1945. Either way: not cool, El Goog.
Checking in today, we’re glad to see the Play Store now knows exactly how old our nation is – and that hey, those Top 20 Games are still on offer for free (even though a lot of them have always been free) or are cheaper than usual.
Merdeka!
Much better, Google!
Yes, that information is accurate. Clash of Clans IS free!
Ten points for Googledor!
