The Fire and Rescue Department had to extricate a construction worker from a manhole he fell into in Jalan Kampung Pasir, Pantai Dalam, yesterday morning.
The incident, which occured at aroun 11.15am, saw a Pakistani construction worker in his 40s fall into the manhole while conducting excavation work to build a new sewage system with several colleagues. He was trapped for about 30 minutes.
KL Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Azizan Ismail told Harian Metro that the victim sustained injuries to his neck and suffered a broken leg, making his extraction from the manhole more difficult.
“Firemen had to repel down the hole to retrieve the victim,” he said.
The victim was then taken to Hospital Universiti for treatment.
