Woman throws newborn baby from 18th storey flat in Danau Kota

Shortly after giving birth, a woman threw her newborn baby from the 18th floor of a flat complex in Danau Kota, Setapak, killing the infant instantly.

Wangsa Maju district police chief Superintendent Rpy Suhaimi told mStar that residents in the area found the remains of the baby lying in its own afterbirth some 30 metres away from the spot where it was thrown at around 8.30am this morning.

“Police tracked down the mother of the victim to the 18th storey of the apartment complex’s C Block. There were bloodstains trailing from the bathroom to the balcony,” he said.

The mother, aged 39, had been renting a flat in the complex along with a married couple, and was living there with her five-year old daughter. She and her daughter moved in last November.

Supt Roy added that the suspect worked as a real estate agent and was in the process of finalising a divorce from her estranged husband.

She reportedly fainted when placed under arrest.

Police believe the mother had given birth at around 3am this morning.

The married couple living with the woman had heard her cries of pain coming from the bathroom and found her bleeding on the floor.

The woman turned aggressive when the married couple attempted to assist her, burling obscenities and refusing to be helped.

Stranger still, the couple did not even realise she was pregnant the entire time, as they described her as a “large woman”.

The suspect was sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
