Woman robbed at knife-point by Uber driver who had hidden passenger in front seat

Facebook user Eddy Ong had a terrifying story to relay to his friends on the social media site: he had just rescued a woman who told him that she had been robbed by her Uber driver.

The post was shared over 7,000 times, and has over 2,400 comments.

The woman had used Uber from Mid Valley to Puchong, and was held at knife-point by her driver, and his accomplice Monday night at 9:30pm.

After booking her ride, the 26-year old waited for the car to arrive. Upon arrival, she did not notice that there was another passenger in the front seat. For all of our readers, please check the car carefully. If there is anyone in the front seat, understand that this is a red-flag, and should you encounter this, don’t get in and report it to Uber. It is a violation of their operations standard. Report immediately.

Arriving at One Puchong business center, the passenger made himself visible and she suddenly had a knife pulled on her. She was forced to hand over all of her valuables. The driver then made a getaway, leaving her to flag down a passing motorist who took her to the police station.

Local Serdang Deputy OCPD Supt Lee Wai Leong confirmed the incident and told The Star,

“We have obtained information on the suspect and driver and are tracing them.” Coconuts has obtained the shared Facebook photos of the car below.

Uber meanwhile, has no comment on the ongoing investigation. “We are cooperating with the authorities in their investigation and would like to assure the public that Uber takes safety very seriously,” they said. Let’s hope so.
