A 44-year old woman whose leg was crushed underneath a fallen tree at Puchong’s Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve yesterday morning has been pronounced dead.
The victim, Leong Chai Yoke, had previously been reported to have only suffered a broken leg after a fallen tree branch fell on her during a morning trek through the forest reserve.
Serdang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Razimi Ahmad told Sinar Harian his officers received a distress call on the incident at around 11.27am.
After rescue officers extricated Leong from the fallen tree, she was diagnosed with a broken leg and sent to the Serdang Hospital for treatment.
However, at around 9.15pm last night, family members were informed by the hospital that Leong had passed away after receiving treatment in the hospital’s emergency red zone.
The victim’s remains were subjected to a post-mortem investigation before being released to her next of kin.
