Woman jumps to her death from Setapak flats

A woman reportedly jumped to her death from the 12th floor of a flat in Setapak on Sunday evening, The New Straits Times reports.

Wangsa Maju district police chief Superintendent Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif told the daily that members of the public alerted the police at 5.30pm.

The victim has been identified as one Wasidah Yani from Medan, Indonesia.

According to Supt Mohamad Roy, the police reportedly had to cut the lock on the grill to get into the flat unit on the 12th floor, believed to have been occupied by the victim.

“The house was dirty and messy as if it had been abandoned. Further checks showed that a woman had stayed in the second room as evident from women’s clothes hanging at the back of the door,” he was quoted as saying, adding that the police also found homemade drug paraphernalia.

Supt Mohamad Roy added that the victim, who allegedly used the unit as a drug den, jumped from the balcony located behind the kitchen.

Her remains were sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital and the police have reportedly ruled out foul play.
