Woman jailed for blocking Sultan of Johor’s convoy

Tsk, tsk! You should’ve gotten out of their way.

A woman from Johor Baru was sentenced to five months in jail for reportedly obstructing the Sultan of Johor’s convoy last week.

According to a report by Kosmo!, which was translated by The Star Online, 29-year-old Nur Haslinda Abdullah was charged for obstructing civil servants from performing their duties in Jalan Tebrau last Friday at around 4.30pm.

She pleaded guilty when the charge was read out to her.

The Malay daily reported that Nur Haslinda, who works as a chef, was driving towards Kota Tinggi when the police directed her to stop aside to make way for the Sultan of Johor’s convoy.

However, she reportedly refused to follow the order and she was stopped by the police instead.

As a result, she was charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code, which upon conviction, carries a maximum jail term of up to two years or a fine amounting up to RM10,000.

According to Kosmo!, she was also later charged at another court, where she pleaded guilty for reckless driving. She was sentenced to a day in prison and fined RM5,000.
